Dr. Jill Moser

Dr. Jill Moser is a principal investigator and Assistant Professor at the Department of Critical Care at the University Medical Center Groningen (UMCG). She obtained her PhD from Leiden University and later joined the UMCG. Her work focuses on elucidating the mechanisms of organ failure in critically ill patients, with a particular interest on how biological sex and underlying comorbidities shape immune responses and clinical outcomes in conditions like sepsis and acute kidney injury. Combining clinical cohort studies with translational and experimental approaches, Dr. Moser investigates the pathways driving critical illness progression and recovery. She has received several research grants, including support from ZonMw, and was awarded the ESICM Family Partnership Research Award in 2024. She coordinates multicenter studies, leads experimental work in the lab, and is part of the management team of the UMCG Precision Medicine Institute, where she also serves as theme lead and PhD education coordinator.
