Dr. Jimmy Schenk

Dr. Jimmy Schenk is principle investigator at the Amsterdam UMC.

As a clinical epidemiologist with a PhD in medicine and a background in nursing, he focusses on the variation in clinical practices and their impact on patient outcomes. His research is centered on critical care, particularly using continuous signal analysis of blood pressure waveforms to enhance evidence-based decision-making by physicians and nurses.

He aims to improve patient assessment during hemodynamic instability through education and development of new tools, using advanced biostatistics to diagnose hemodynamic issues and to detect vascular abnormalities. Additionally, he explores the benefits of a more nurse-driven approach to hemodynamic care, focusing on nursing autonomy and treatment efficiency. His ultimate goal is to bridge clinical practice and methodology to improve patient outcomes.
